Project Title |
: |
ChemStation Porting (Life Sciences Instrumentation Product) for Agilent Technologies |
|
Scope of the Project |
: |
The ChemStation Plus product covers a wide range of
analytical instrument control, allowing you to use just one software package
to do multiple analytical techniques. Data handling and reporting includes batch
review and automatic spooling to database for trend charting and studies,
with facilities to view the status of runs remotely and to access instruments
to load methods and start or stop runs. Currently Agilent's suites of
ChemStation products are 16-bit products which are being ported to the 32-bit
world. The tasks involve changes in APIs used, changes in the message passing
mechanisms and changes in data structures. Another task is to make the 32-bit
ported code Unicode compliant so that ChemStation will support languages
other than English and German. Agilent also wants the 32-bit product to be
deployed as a installation package. |

· Responsible
for creation of 32-bit product deployment packages using InstallShield
Developer technology. · Involved
in porting of 16-bit InstallShield scripts to 32-bit, while incorporating
enhancements necessary for a state-of-art 32-bit installation using latest
Windows Installer technology. |

Autocomputation of Radiotheodolite Data, for
Indian Meteorological Department. |
|
Scope of the Project |
: |
‘Auto computation of Radiotheodolite Data System’
consists of Windows based software which is used in conjunction
with data acquisition hardware to enable IMD operators to take flights for
the collection of meteorological data through remote sensing apparatus
coupled to a weather balloon. The software guides the user through the
process of conducting a flight by intuitive wizard-driven interfaces. The
software automatically computes the desired meteorological parameters such as
Pressure, Temperature, Humidity, Azimuth and Elevation in real-time with
stringent quality assurance applied to the acquired data to ensure accurate
results even in case of inherent system anomalies, while graphical
capabilities of the software allow real-time and offline plotting of various
parameters of complete ascents including display and printing of complex
meteorological end-products. The system is a classic real-time system with highly complex
processing. |

Role/Responsibilities |
: |
· GUI and Acquisition Modules : Development of
the system and implementation has been done in Visual C++ 6 using MFC using
features such as multi-threading, embedded micro-controller software control
and serial port interfacing, ActiveX controls, complex graphical displays,
quality assurance algorithms and user interface elements such as wizards and
property sheets, integration of MSFlexGrid control. · Processing modules : Development of almost
half of the complete software including the development of real-time
processing algorithms, wizard interface development, data quality assurance. · Testing by conducting test flights · User training. |

Radio Acoustic Sounding System
(National RASS) for Indian Meteorological Department. |
|
Scope of the Project |
: |
The project RASS is used to probe the lower and upper atmosphere
for the purpose of wind profiling. The project is based on the Doppler Effect
in which the frequency of waves from a source and a destination are used to
determine their relative speed and direction. In this project Radio Frequency
waves are transmitted from the ground and a receiver on the ground receives
the reflection from the atmosphere. By applying digital signal processing
techniques like FFT to the received signals it is possible to approximate the
wind speed and wind direction of the atmosphere up to a height of about 15-16
kms. |

|
Role/Responsibilities |
: |
I was involved in the development of the real-time data processing and
offline viewing software used to control and interact with a state-of-art
atmospheric data collection system. The development was carried out in Visual
C++ 6 and I was also responsible for maintaining and defect fixing of the
software. |
